SERDANG, 15th March 2024 – Discussions and Briefings on the Benefits of the Social Security Organization (PERKESO) were held at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Graduate Employability Development (CEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 12th March 2024 aimed at introducing the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) to UPM students and staff.
This discussion session was attended by 5 representatives from PERKESO and 4 representatives from CEM. CEM Director, Associate Prof. Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali, stated that the introduced scheme is excellent for focusing social security protection on UPM students and staff engaged in self-employment activities and exposed to occupational accident risks.
"This scheme is highly suitable for UPM students actively conducting their own businesses on campus as social security protection, and we at CEM are interested in becoming a Registered Corporate Agent under PERKESO through the Universiti Putra Malaysia Student Entrepreneurship Cooperative (KOSISWA UPM)," he said.
The Executive Officer of the Self-Employment Scheme (SPS), Muhammad Helmi bin Yunos, stated that PERKESO will collaborate with CEM to provide the best mechanisms for social security protection and welfare assurance.
"This scheme covers five main target groups, namely students actively conducting business on campus, students and staff involved in the gig economy sector, staff and family members running their own businesses, industrial training students receiving allowances from employers, and high-performance athletes receiving monthly allowances."
UPM students and staff interested in learning more about this scheme can contact Mr. Muhammad Syahmi bin Salim (PERKESO representative) at 019-2416239 or Ms. Nur Suhaila binti Juharei (CEM representative) at 03-97691469.
