Public-Private Research Network (PPRN)

Public-Private Research Network (PPRN) is an innovative initiative by the Ministry of Education to promote a demand-driven innovation program in driving productivity enhancement and strengthening Malaysia's economic development. PPRN's mission is to create a knowledge-friendly ecosystem that is an environment where knowledge is generated and disseminated from Public Institutions of Education and Research Institutions to industries / companies that require that knowledge.

The main objective of PPRN is to encourage the participation of academicians to conduct demand-based research, increase SME and industry productivity through state-of-the-art adaptation or appropriate technology. In addition, PPRN strengthens private public network relations through innovation research from IPT to SMEs and industry entrepreneurs.

Additionally, PPRN has its own scope of project to achieve its objectives. Among the scope of the PPRN project is product innovation in which the product or value of the existing industry / enterprise product is marketed. The scope of PPRN projects also includes process innovation to improve product production processes, resource components, warehouses, logistics, shipping methods or services, optimizing production to make it more efficient and efficient to use state-of-art technology and increase production scale.

The MOE also provides the terms and criteria for each project application. Terms and conditions set forth herein are open applications to all registered companies in Malaysia with annual sales value exceeding RM50,000. Hence, issues related to management, marketing or off-the-shelf purchases will not be considered. Application for PPRN projects is only valid for products that require improvements already being marketed. Priority is given to projects that can be completed within 6 months, but the project implementation period of not more than 12 months can still be considered and PPRN and industry will jointly finance the project implementation.
